Did you know that April is Financial Literacy Month? It’s a time dedicated to improving financial knowledge and empowering individuals to make informed financial decisions. At Alive Credit Union, we are committed to equipping our members with the tools and resources needed to build a strong financial foundation. Whether you're looking to improve your credit, build a budget, or prepare for a major financial milestone, we are here to empower your financial wellness journey.
Why Financial Literacy Matters
Financial literacy is a key factor in achieving financial stability. According to the 2023 National Financial Capability Study, only 34% of Americans can correctly answer at least four out of five basic financial literacy questions (FINRA, 2023). Meanwhile, research by the National Endowment for Financial Education found that 76% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck (NEFE, 2023). These statistics highlight the urgent need for accessible financial education at all life stages.
Young adults and middle-income earners are among those who benefit most from financial literacy resources. A report by the TIAA Institute found that Gen Z has the lowest financial literacy scores, with only 16% demonstrating basic financial knowledge (TIAA, 2023). Additionally, many middle-aged individuals struggle with debt management, retirement planning, and credit health.
